Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: flathead screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, and a replacement battery (typically CR2032).
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe location and that you have all required keys.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Open the Key Fob:

    • Use the flathead screwdriver to gently pry apart the key fob casing.
    • Start at a seam and carefully work around to avoid damaging the casing.
  2. Remove the Old Battery:

    • Take note of the battery orientation.
    • Use the small Phillips screwdriver to remove any screws if applicable, then gently lift the old battery out.
  3. Install the New Battery:

    • Insert the new battery into the fob, ensuring it is positioned in the same orientation as the old battery.
  4. Reassemble the Key Fob:

    • Snap the fob casing back together until it clicks into place.
    • Ensure there are no gaps between the two halves.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Enter Programming Mode:

    • Sit in the vehicle with doors closed.
    • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position (do not start).
    • Turn the key back to "Off" and remove it.
    • Within 5 seconds, press the "Lock" button on the fob once.
  2. Test the Fob:

    • Attempt to lock and unlock the vehicle doors using the key fob.
    • If successful, the fob is reprogrammed.
