why does my Honda Pilot's engine rev high without acceleration

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather necessary tools and parts.
• Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.

2. Inspect the Throttle Body

• Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body using a socket set.
• Clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to remove carbon deposits.
• Reinstall the air intake duct and reconnect any connectors.

3. Test and Replace the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (if necessary)

• Locate the accelerator pedal position sensor.
• Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor using a socket set.
• Install a new sensor, reconnect the electrical connector, and test the throttle response.

4. Check and Replace the Idle Air Control Valve (if malfunctioning)

• Locate the idle air control valve on the throttle body or intake manifold.
• Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the valve using appropriate tools.
