Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid electrical issues during maintenance.
2. Perform Scheduled Maintenance

a. Oil and Filter Change

  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan.
  • Remove the drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the old oil to completely drain into the catch pan.
  • Replace the oil filter using the oil filter wrench.
  • Reinstall the drain plug and tighten to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Refill the engine with the recommended grade of oil.

b. Inspect and Replace Air Filter

  • Locate the air filter housing and unscrew/remove the cover.
  • Remove the old air filter and inspect the housing for debris.
  • Install a new air filter according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

c. Brake Inspection

  • Inspect brake pads for wear and measure rotor thickness.
  • If necessary, replace brake pads and/or rotors as per manufacturer's guidelines.

d. Fluid Checks

  • Check and top off all essential fluids: coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
  • Inspect belts and hoses for any signs of wear or damage.

e. Tire Rotation and Pressure Check

  • Check tire pressure and adjust according to specifications.
  • Rotate tires to promote even wear.
3. Reset Maintenance Light
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine.
  • Press the gas pedal three times to reset the maintenance light.
