Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: flathead screwdriver, small Phillips screwdriver, and a new battery (commonly CR2032).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked safely and the ignition is off.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Open the Key Fob:

    • Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry open the key fob along the seam.
    • Take care not to damage the plastic casing.
  2. Remove Old Battery:

    • Note the orientation of the battery (positive and negative sides).
    • Gently lift out the old battery using a small Phillips screwdriver or tweezers.
  3. Insert New Battery:

    • Place the new battery into the fob in the same orientation as the old one.
    • Ensure it is seated properly in the battery compartment.
  4. Reassemble the Key Fob:

    • Snap the two halves of the key fob back together firmly.
    • Ensure there are no gaps and the fob is securely closed.
3. Reprogram Key Fob (if necessary)
  1. Enter Programming Mode:

    • Insert the key into the ignition and turn to the "ON" position (do not start the engine).
    • Turn the key back to "OFF" and remove it.
  2. Press the Key Fob Buttons:

    • Press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the key fob simultaneously for about 5 seconds.
    • This may need to be repeated for additional key fobs.
  3. Test Functionality:

    • Try locking and unlocking the doors with the key fob to confirm successful reprogramming.
