Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Oil drain pan
    • Socket wrench set
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Funnel
    • Torque wrench
    • Rags or shop towels
  • Parts Required:
    • New engine oil (5W-40 or as specified in the owner's manual)
    • New oil filter
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the oil change to avoid burns.
    • Disconnect the battery if working on electrical components.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
3. Drain Old Oil
  • Place the oil drain pan under the oil pan's drain plug.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to completely drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug once all oil has drained, ensuring it is tightened to the manufacturer’s specified torque (refer to the owner’s manual).
4. Replace Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter (usually accessible under the engine).
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter, allowing any residual oil to drain into the pan.
  • Before installing the new filter, apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, ensuring it is snug but not overtightened.
5. Add New Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the engine, following the capacity specified in the owner's manual.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a minute to circulate the new oil.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a minute, then check the oil level using the dipstick.
  • Add more oil if necessary to reach the correct level.
7. Clean Up
  • Dispose of the old oil and filter properly, following local regulations.
  • Clean any spills with rags or shop towels.
