Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety while working on the suspension.
  • Raise the vehicle using a hydraulic jack and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove Old Shock Absorber
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench, torque wrench, penetrating oil.
  • Use penetrating oil on the shock mounting bolts to loosen them.
  • Remove the lower shock bolt using a socket and wrench.
  • Remove the upper shock mounting bolts.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of its mounting position.
3. Install New Shock Absorber
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench.
  • Position the new shock absorber in place, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
  • Insert the upper mounting bolts and hand tighten them.
  • Install the lower shock bolt and hand tighten it as well.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten all bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque settings (typically around 30-50 ft-lbs, but verify with service manual).
4. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall any components or covers that were removed during the process.
  • Double-check all connections and ensure nothing is loose.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
5. Final Check
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Inspect the installation for any visible issues or leaks.
