Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Disconnect the battery if necessary for electronic components.
2. Inspect and Replace Suspension Components
  • Inspect Control Arms and Bushings:

    • Remove the wheel on the affected side using a socket set.
    • Check the control arms and bushings for any signs of wear or damage.
    • If damaged, remove the control arm bolts and replace the control arm and bushings.
    • Torque the control arm bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually about 100-120 ft-lbs).
  • Inspect and Replace Tie Rod Ends:

    • If the tie rods are worn, remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the tie rod.
    • Use a tie rod puller to remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle.
    • Install a new tie rod, torque the castle nut to specifications, and insert a new cotter pin.
3. Inspect and Replace CV Joints
  • Check for Damage:
    • If the CV joint boots are torn or the joint itself is worn, they will need to be replaced.
    • Remove the wheel and brake assembly to access the CV joint.
    • Disconnect the CV joint from the transaxle and remove it from the hub assembly.
    • Install a new CV joint and torque all fasteners to specifications.
4. Inspect and Replace Wheel Bearings
  • Wheel Bearing Replacement:
    • If play is detected in the wheel bearings, remove the wheel and brake assembly.
    • Remove the hub assembly using a socket set.
    • Press out the old bearing and press in a new bearing using a bearing press.
    • Reassemble and torque all components to the manufacturer’s specifications.
