Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, pry bar, impact wrench (if available).
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface. Use wheel chocks to prevent rolling. Disconnect the battery if working on electronic components.
2. Inspect and Replace Shock Absorbers/Struts
  1. Lift the Vehicle: Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure with jack stands.
  2. Remove Wheel: Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  3. Disconnect Shock Absorber:
    • Locate the upper mount and lower mounting points of the shock absorber.
    • Use the socket set to remove the bolts securing the shock absorber.
  4. Remove Shock Absorber:
    • Carefully withdraw the shock absorber from its mounting position.
    • If it is damaged or leaking, replace it with a new part.
  5. Install New Shock Absorber:
    • Position the new shock absorber in place and secure it with bolts.
    • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications as per the service manual.
3. Inspect and Replace Suspension Bushings
  1. Check for Wear: Examine all bushings in the suspension for cracks or excessive wear.
  2. Remove A-Arm or Control Arm:
    • If bushings are worn, you may need to remove the A-arm or control arm.
    • Use a socket set to remove the bolts and gently pry the arm away from the chassis.
  3. Replace Bushings:
    • Press out the old bushings and install new ones.
    • Use a bushing tool if available for proper installation.
  4. Reattach Control Arm/A-Arm:
    • Position the arm back in place and secure with bolts.
    • Torque to manufacturer specifications.
4. Reassemble the Vehicle
  1. Reinstall Wheel: Place the wheel back on, hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower Vehicle: Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  3. Torque Lug Nuts: Once on the ground, torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
