Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shorts during the repair.
2. Inspect and Clean the Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Socket set, throttle body cleaner, soft brush, clean cloth.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the air intake duct connected to the throttle body by loosening the clamps.
    2. Unplug the throttle position sensor connector.
    3. Remove the throttle body mounting bolts using the socket set.
    4. Carefully detach the throttle body from the intake manifold.
    5. Clean the throttle body using throttle body cleaner and a soft brush to remove carbon deposits.
    6. Wipe the throttle body with a clean cloth to ensure no residue remains.
    7. Reinstall the throttle body, securing it with the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
    8. Reconnect the throttle position sensor and reattach the air intake duct.
3. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, spark plug socket, torque wrench.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
    2. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors.
    3. Remove the ignition coils using the socket set.
    4. Extract the spark plugs with the spark plug socket.
    5. Inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage. Replace them if necessary with OEM or equivalent parts.
    6. Install the new spark plugs by hand first, then torque to the manufacturer’s specifications.
    7. Reinstall the ignition coils and reconnect the connectors.
    8. Reattach the engine cover.
4. Test the Fuel System
  • Tools Required: Fuel pressure gauge.
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail.
    2. Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the test port.
    3. Turn the ignition key to the ON position (do not start the engine) and check the fuel pressure reading.
    4. Compare the reading to the specifications in the service manual. Replace the fuel pump or filter if the pressure is outside the acceptable range.
    5. Disconnect the gauge and replace the test port cap.
