Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Safety gear: gloves and safety glasses.
  • Ensure the engine is cool and parked on a level surface.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the oil to fully drain.
  • Reinstall the drain plug and torque to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 25 Nm).
3. Replace Gaskets/Seals
  • Valve Cover Gasket:

    • Remove any engine covers to access the valve cover.
    • Unscrew the valve cover bolts using a socket set.
    • Carefully lift the valve cover off and remove the old gasket.
    • Clean the mating surfaces of the valve cover and cylinder head.
    • Place a new valve cover gasket and reinstall the valve cover, tightening bolts in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque (usually around 10 Nm).
  • Oil Pan Gasket:

    • If the oil pan gasket is faulty, remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts around the perimeter.
    • Clean the oil pan and engine block surfaces thoroughly.
    • Apply a new gasket or sealant as per manufacturer specifications.
    • Reinstall the oil pan and torque bolts to specifications (usually around 10-15 Nm).
4. Replace Oil Filter
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter hand-tight, then give it an additional 3/4 turn.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • Pour in the recommended type and amount of new engine oil through the oil fill cap.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to circulate the oil.
  • Turn off the engine and check for leaks around the replaced components.
