Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical shock.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Rear Seat and Access Panel
  • Tools Required: Socket set, trim removal tool.
  • Remove the rear seat bottom by pulling up firmly.
  • Remove any retaining clips or screws to take off the access panel located above the fuel pump.
3. Disconnect Fuel Lines
  • Safety Warning: Fuel may spill; have a container ready to catch any fuel.
  • Use a fuel line disconnect tool to carefully detach the fuel lines from the fuel pump.
  • Cover the lines with a clean rag to minimize fuel spillage.
4. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly
  • Unplug the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Remove the retaining ring or screws securing the fuel pump assembly to the fuel tank.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, ensuring the float arm doesn't get damaged.
5. Install New Fuel Pump
  • Place the new fuel pump into the fuel tank, ensuring the float arm is positioned correctly.
  • Secure the fuel pump assembly with the retaining ring or screws.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and fuel lines.
6. Reassemble Access Panel and Rear Seat
  • Replace the access panel and secure it with screws or clips.
  • Reinstall the rear seat bottom by pressing it back into place.
7. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the ON position and listen for the fuel pump operation. Check for leaks around the fuel lines.
  • Start the engine and ensure it runs smoothly without stalling.
