Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts for replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid electrical issues.
2. Raise Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using a socket wrench.
3. Remove the Old Ball Joints
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ball joint separator, torque wrench
  • Locate the ball joints on the lower control arm.
  • Unbolt the ball joint from the control arm and steering knuckle using the socket set.
  • Use a ball joint separator to detach the ball joint from the steering knuckle if necessary.
4. Install New Ball Joints
  • Clean the mounting surfaces on the control arm and steering knuckle.
  • Position the new ball joint and secure it with the bolts.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications, typically found in the service manual.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts, then lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
  • Reconnect the battery.
