Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Lift the front of the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels for better access to the tie rods.
2. Remove Old Tie Rods
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench, tie rod puller, hammer.
  • Loosen the lock nut on the tie rod end using a wrench.
  • Use a tie rod puller to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. If necessary, tap the knuckle with a hammer to loosen it.
  • Remove the tie rod from the steering rack after separating the end.
  • Repeat this process for the opposite tie rod.
3. Install New Tie Rods
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench.
  • Apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new tie rod ends.
  • Attach the new tie rod to the steering rack and hand tighten.
  • Align the tie rod end with the steering knuckle and secure it using the tie rod puller.
  • Tighten the tie rod end to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 35-45 ft-lbs).
  • Reinstall the lock nut and tighten it securely.
4. Alignment
  • Tools Required: Alignment tools or visit a professional alignment shop.
  • After installation, check the alignment settings and adjust as needed. It is recommended to perform a professional wheel alignment to ensure proper handling and tire wear.
