Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Check and Refill Brake Fluid
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid, funnel, clean rags.
  • Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.
  • Check the brake fluid level; if low, add the appropriate type of brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4 as specified in the owner’s manual).
  • Clean the reservoir and replace the cap securely.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, caliper tool, brake cleaner.
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel where brake pads will be replaced.
  • Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to access the brake caliper.
  • Remove the caliper bolts and carefully slide the caliper off the rotor.
  • Inspect the brake pads for wear; if the thickness is below the manufacturer’s specifications, replace them.
  • Clean the caliper and rotor with brake cleaner before reassembling.
  • Reinstall caliper and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Bleed Brake Lines (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Brake bleeder kit, clean rags.
  • Locate the brake bleeder valve on each brake caliper.
  • Attach the bleeder kit and open the valve to allow old brake fluid and air to escape.
  • Have an assistant press the brake pedal several times, then hold it down while you close the bleeder valve.
  • Repeat this process until clear brake fluid without air bubbles flows from the bleeder.
5. Replace Brake Switch (if malfunctioning)
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver, socket set.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shock.
  • Locate the brake switch near the brake pedal.
  • Remove the old switch by unscrewing or unclipping it.
  • Install the new switch and reconnect the battery.
