Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel corresponding to the leaky shock absorber using a lug wrench.
3. Remove the Old Shock Absorber
  • Locate the upper and lower mounting bolts of the shock absorber.
  • Use a socket set to remove the bolts; apply penetrating oil if they are rusted.
  • Carefully detach the shock absorber from its mounting points and remove it from the vehicle.
4. Install the New Shock Absorber
  • Position the new shock absorber in place, aligning it with the mounting points.
  • Insert and hand-tighten the upper and lower mounting bolts.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque (refer to service manual for exact torque values).
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reattach the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the jack.
  • Fully tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque value in a crisscross pattern.
