Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, multimeter, compression tester, OBD-II scanner.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  2. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  3. Locate the spark plug for cylinder 1, typically found near the top of the engine.
  4. Use the spark plug socket to remove the old spark plug.
  5. Inspect the old spark plug for signs of damage or fouling; replace it if necessary.
  6. Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plug.
  7. Install the new spark plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 13-15 lb-ft).
  8. Reattach the ignition coil to the spark plug.
3. Replace Ignition Coil
  1. If spark plug replacement does not resolve the issue, proceed to replace the ignition coil.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the ignition coil to the cylinder head.
  4. Carefully remove the ignition coil from the spark plug.
  5. Install the new ignition coil and secure it with bolts.
  6. Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Test Fuel Injector
  1. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the fuel injector on cylinder 1.
  2. If the resistance is out of specification, replace the fuel injector.
  3. To replace, disconnect the fuel line (ensure to relieve fuel pressure), remove the electrical connector, and unscrew the injector.
  4. Install the new injector and reconnect the fuel line and electrical connector.
