Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting work.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Tools Required: Socket wrench, spark plug socket, torque wrench.
  • Remove the ignition coil from cylinder 3 by unscrewing the bolts.
  • Remove the old spark plug using a spark plug socket.
  • Inspect the new spark plug for proper gap settings as per the manufacturer specifications.
  • Install the new spark plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually between 13-20 lb-ft).
  • Reattach the ignition coil.
3. Check and Replace Ignition Coil (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, multimeter (for testing).
  • Test the ignition coil using a multimeter to check for proper resistance.
  • If faulty, remove the ignition coil from cylinder 3.
  • Install the new ignition coil and reconnect all connectors securely.
4. Clean or Replace Fuel Injector (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Fuel injector cleaning kit or replacement injector.
  • Disconnect the fuel line and electrical connector from the fuel injector.
  • Remove the fuel injector from cylinder 3.
  • If cleaning, follow the instructions for the cleaning kit. If replacing, install the new fuel injector.
  • Reconnect the fuel line and electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Start the engine and check for any abnormal sounds.
  • Clear the P0303 code using the OBD-II scanner and monitor the engine for any reoccurrence of the misfire.
