Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, torque wrench, multimeter, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off and cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical short circuits.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the engine cover and remove any screws or clips holding it in place.
  • Gently lift off the cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coil
  • Identify the ignition coil(s) on the engine. There will typically be one coil per cylinder.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil by pressing on the tab and pulling it straight out.
  • Remove the bolt(s) securing the ignition coil using the socket set.
  • Carefully pull the ignition coil straight out of the spark plug well. If it is stuck, wiggle it gently to release it.
4. Install New Ignition Coil
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the bottom of the new ignition coil to ensure a good seal.
  • Insert the new ignition coil into the spark plug well, ensuring it seats properly.
  • Reinstall the bolt(s) to secure the ignition coil, and torque to the manufacturer's specifications (typically 7-10 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the engine cover and secure it with the screws or clips that were removed.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and check for proper operation, ensuring the check engine light is off.
