Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a safe, well-ventilated area.
  • Disconnect the 12V battery before working on electrical components.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  • Tools Required: Small flathead screwdriver
  • Remove the key fob casing using the flathead screwdriver.
  • Replace the old battery with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive side is facing up.
  • Reassemble the key fob casing.
3. Check and Replace 12V Battery
  • Tools Required: Socket set, multimeter
  • Use the multimeter to confirm if the 12V battery voltage is below 12.4 volts.
  • If low, disconnect the negative terminal first, then the positive terminal.
  • Remove the old battery and replace it with a new compatible 12V battery (usually a group size 51).
  • Reconnect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
4. Unlock Steering Wheel
  • If the steering wheel remains locked after addressing the battery:
  • Insert the key fob into the designated slot or, if applicable, ensure it is in the vehicle.
  • Turn the steering wheel gently left and right while simultaneously pressing the start button to unlock it.
5. Verify All Connections
  • Inspect and ensure all electrical connections to the battery and key fob are tight and free of corrosion.
