Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the 12V battery to avoid any electrical issues during the repair.
2. Remove Shock Absorbers
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set, wrench set.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheels to gain access to the suspension components.
  • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing the bottom of the shock absorber to the lower control arm.
  • Remove the top mounting bolts of the shock absorber located in the trunk or under the rear seat, depending on the configuration.
  • Carefully take out the shock absorber from the suspension assembly.
3. Inspect and Replace Components
  • Inspect the removed shock absorber for signs of wear or damage.
  • If worn, replace with new shock absorbers that are compatible with the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland.
  • Check and replace any damaged bushings or mounts associated with the shock absorbers.
  • Ensure all components are clean and free of debris before installation.
4. Install New Shock Absorbers
  • Position the new shock absorber into place in the suspension assembly.
  • Reinstall the top mounting bolts and torque them to manufacturer specifications (typically around 30-40 Nm, but verify with service manual).
  • Secure the bottom of the shock absorber to the lower control arm using the bolts and torque them appropriately.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels and tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the recommended torque specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the 12V battery.
