Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Small flathead screwdriver, new CR2032 battery (for key fob), multimeter (optional).
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is powered off before performing any maintenance.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Use the small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob casing.
  2. Remove the old CR2032 battery and dispose of it properly.
  3. Insert the new CR2032 battery, ensuring the positive (+) side is facing up.
  4. Reassemble the key fob casing by snapping it back together securely.
3. Check 12V Battery
  1. Open the front trunk (frunk) of the Tesla Model S.
  2. Locate the 12V battery and inspect for corrosion or loose connections.
  3. Use a multimeter to check the voltage of the 12V battery. It should read between 12.4V to 12.6V when fully charged.
  4. If the voltage is low, charge the battery or replace it if necessary.
4. Reset Key Fob Connection
  1. Enter the vehicle and press the brake pedal to power it on.
  2. On the touchscreen, navigate to "Controls" > "Safety & Security" > "Key Fob" settings.
  3. Remove existing key fob entries if any, and then re-add the key fob by following the on-screen instructions.
5. Software Update
  1. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to "Controls" > "Software".
  2. Check for available updates and install if necessary.
  3. Restart the vehicle after installation to ensure all systems are refreshed.
