Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials required for the battery replacement.
  • Disconnect the vehicle from any charging source.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in Park and powered off.

Tools Required:

  • 10mm socket wrench
  • Multimeter
  • Torque wrench (for terminal connections)
2. Access the Battery Compartment
  • Open the front trunk (frunk) of the Tesla Model S.
  • Remove the plastic cover by unscrewing the retaining bolts using a 10mm socket.
  • Gently lift the cover off to reveal the 12V battery.
3. Remove the Old Battery
  • Disconnect the negative (-) terminal first, followed by the positive (+) terminal to avoid short-circuiting.
  • Carefully lift the battery out of its compartment. It may be heavy, so use proper lifting techniques.
4. Install the New Battery
  • Place the new 12V battery into the compartment.
  • Connect the positive (+) terminal first, followed by the negative (-) terminal. Ensure the connections are tight to avoid any power loss.
5. Reassemble
  • Replace the plastic cover over the battery compartment and secure it with the retaining bolts.
  • Check that all tools are removed from the frunk area.
