Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure the vehicle with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Remove the Old Shocks
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, torque wrench, jack, jack stands.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to access the shock absorber.
  • Unbolt the shock from the upper mount and lower mount using the appropriate socket and wrench.
  • Carefully detach the shock absorber from the suspension assembly.
3. Install New Shocks
  • Tools Required: Same as above.
  • Position the new shock absorber where the old one was removed.
  • Attach the shock absorber to the lower mount first, then to the upper mount.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 30-40 ft-lbs, but check the specific torque values for your model).
  • Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
4. Final Inspection
  • Check all bolts to ensure they are secure.
  • Ensure that the suspension is aligned properly and that there are no visible issues.
  • Perform a bounce test again to confirm proper operation.
