Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool down before beginning work.
2. Inspect and Repair Air Intake System
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers
  • Remove the engine cover (if applicable).
  • Inspect all air intake hoses, clamps, and the intake manifold for any signs of damage or disconnection.
  • Replace any damaged hoses or seals.
3. Clean the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
  • Tools Required: MAF cleaner, soft cloth
  • Locate the MAF sensor in the air intake duct.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the MAF sensor from the duct.
  • Spray MAF cleaner on the sensor elements without touching them and allow to dry.
  • Reinstall the MAF sensor and reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Inspect Fuel System
  • Tools Required: Fuel pressure gauge, socket set
  • Locate the fuel rail and connect the fuel pressure gauge.
  • Turn the ignition to the "On" position (but do not start the engine) to check fuel pressure; it should be within the manufacturer specifications.
  • If pressure is low, inspect the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel injectors for blockages or failures. Replace as necessary.
5. Clear Error Codes
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner
  • Reconnect the battery and start the engine.
  • Use the OBD-II scanner to clear the P0171 code and any other related codes from the system.
  • Monitor the vehicle for any reoccurrence of the code.
