Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool before beginning any work.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  • Locate cylinder 1 spark plug (refer to service manual for location).
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the old spark plug.
  • Inspect the new spark plug for proper gap (0.028-0.031 inches for Tesla Model Y).
  • Apply anti-seize compound on the threads of the new spark plug.
  • Install the new spark plug and tighten to manufacturer specifications (15 ft-lbs).
3. Inspect and Replace Ignition Coil
  • Remove the ignition coil connector from cylinder 1.
  • Unbolt the ignition coil using a socket and ratchet.
  • Replace the faulty ignition coil with a new one.
  • Reconnect the ignition coil connector securely.
4. Test Fuel Injector
  • Disconnect the fuel injector connector for cylinder 1.
  • Use a multimeter to check for continuity. If no continuity, replace the injector.
  • Perform a bench test if necessary or replace with a new injector if defective.
5. Compression Test
  • Remove spark plugs from all cylinders for accurate testing.
  • Attach a compression gauge to the cylinder 1 spark plug hole.
  • Crank the engine for a few seconds and record the compression reading.
  • If compression is below specifications (typically 150 psi), further engine diagnostics may be necessary.
