Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: oil filter wrench, socket set, oil pressure gauge, new oil, new oil filter, funnel, rags for cleanup.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off and cool.
2. Check and Top Off Oil Level
  • Open the hood and locate the oil fill cap.
  • Remove the cap and use a funnel to add oil if the level is low. Refer to the owner’s manual for the correct oil type and specifications.
  • Replace the oil fill cap securely.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter and use an oil filter wrench to remove it.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, ensuring it is snug but not overly tight.
4. Change Oil
  • Place a drain pan underneath the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the old oil to drain completely.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Fill the engine with the appropriate amount of new oil through the oil fill cap.
5. Test Oil Pressure
  • Connect a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure sending unit port.
  • Start the engine and observe the gauge for oil pressure readings. Compare with manufacturer specifications.
  • If pressure is low, further investigation into the oil pump and related components may be necessary.
