Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
    • New cabin air filter (ensure it is compatible with Toyota Camry 2012-2017)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is turned off and keys are removed from the ignition.
2. Access the Cabin Air Filter
  1. Open the glove compartment and remove any items inside.
  2. Locate the two stops on the sides of the glove compartment. Gently squeeze them inward to release the glove compartment from its hinges.
  3. Lower the glove compartment completely to gain access to the cabin air filter compartment.
3. Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter
  1. Locate the cabin air filter cover, which is typically a rectangular panel near the back of the glove compartment area.
  2. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry open the cabin air filter cover, releasing any clips or tabs.
  3. Pull the old cabin air filter straight out, noting the orientation of the filter (which side faces the engine).
4. Install the New Cabin Air Filter
  1. Take the new cabin air filter and align it in the same orientation as the old filter.
  2. Slide the new filter into the compartment until it is fully seated.
  3. Replace the cabin air filter cover, ensuring it is securely clipped back into place.
5. Reassemble the Glove Compartment
  1. Lift the glove compartment back into place.
  2. Push the side stops back into their original position to secure the glove compartment.
  3. Close the glove compartment and ensure it operates smoothly.
