Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, funnel, oil catch pan, and rags.
  • Parts Required: New engine oil (5W-20), new oil filter.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the engine is off and cool before starting. Wear gloves and safety glasses.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure with jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable and can safely hold its weight.
3. Drain Old Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the old oil to fully drain into the pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer’s torque specification (typically around 30 ft-lbs).
4. Replace the Oil Filter
  • Locate the oil filter (usually on the side of the engine).
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Be cautious as some oil may still be in the filter.
  • Prepare the new oil filter by applying a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, turning it until snug.
5. Add New Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on the top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the engine (typically around 5 quarts for the Camry).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
6. Check Oil Level
  • Start the engine and let it run for a minute to circulate the new oil.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a minute, then check the oil level with the dipstick.
  • Add more oil if necessary to reach the proper level.
7. Clean Up
  • Dispose of the old oil and filter at an appropriate recycling center.
  • Clean any spills and ensure that the work area is tidy.
