Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and is secure.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles for protection.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the rear of the vehicle and place jack stands under the rear frame for support.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before working underneath.
3. Remove the Old Shocks
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, torque wrench
  • Remove the bolts securing the bottom of the shock absorber to the axle.
  • Remove the nut securing the top of the shock absorber to the frame.
  • Carefully pull the shock absorber out of the mounting points.
4. Install the New Shocks
  • Parts Required: New rear shock absorbers
  • Insert the new shock absorber into the upper mount and secure it with the nut, torquing to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 15-25 ft-lbs).
  • Attach the bottom of the shock absorber to the axle using the bolts, ensuring they are also torqued to spec.
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Ensure all tools are removed from under the vehicle.
