Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather Tools and Materials:
    • Screwdriver (flathead or Phillips, depending on the screws)
    • New cabin air filter
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is off, and the keys are removed from the ignition.
2. Access the Cabin Air Filter
  1. Open the Glove Compartment: Empty the glove compartment and fully open it.
  2. Disconnect the Stop Arm:
    • Locate the stop arm on each side of the glove compartment.
    • Gently squeeze the sides to release them and allow the glove compartment to lower fully.
  3. Remove the Glove Compartment:
    • Remove any screws holding the glove compartment in place (if applicable).
    • Carefully pull the glove compartment out of the dash.
3. Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter
  1. Locate the Cabin Air Filter Housing:
    • Find the filter housing, usually located behind the glove compartment area.
  2. Open the Filter Housing:
    • Release any retaining clips or slide the cover off to access the old filter.
  3. Extract the Old Filter:
    • Pull the old cabin air filter out carefully, noting its orientation for the new filter installation.
4. Install the New Cabin Air Filter
  1. Insert the New Filter:
    • Place the new cabin air filter into the housing in the same orientation as the old one.
    • Ensure it fits snugly with no gaps.
  2. Close the Filter Housing:
    • Reattach the filter housing cover and secure any clips or screws.
5. Reassemble the Glove Compartment
  1. Reinstall the Glove Compartment:
    • Align the glove compartment back into its original position.
    • Secure it with any screws removed earlier.
  2. Reconnect the Stop Arm:
    • Reattach the stop arm to both sides of the glove compartment.
6. Test the HVAC System
  • Turn on the vehicle and test the HVAC system for proper airflow and any unusual odors.
