Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: flathead screwdriver (for battery replacement), new key fob battery (CR2032), and the vehicle owner's manual.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in a secure area and all doors are closed.
2. Replace Key Fob Battery
  1. Open the Key Fob
    • Use the flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the key fob along the seam.
  2. Remove Old Battery
    • Take note of the battery orientation and remove the old battery from its compartment.
  3. Install New Battery
    • Insert a new CR2032 battery, ensuring it is oriented the same way as the old battery.
  4. Reassemble Key Fob
    • Press the two halves of the key fob together until they snap back into place.
3. Reprogram the Key Fob
  1. Enter Programming Mode
    • Sit in the driver's seat and close all doors.
    • Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (do not start the engine) and back to "OFF" five times within 10 seconds.
  2. Open and Close the Driver’s Door
    • After switching the ignition, open and close the driver's door once.
  3. Turn on the Ignition
    • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position again, and the door locks should cycle (lock then unlock) indicating that the vehicle is in programming mode.
  4. Program the Key Fob
    • Press any button on the key fob within 30 seconds. The locks should cycle again to confirm successful programming.
  5. Exit Programming Mode
    • Turn the ignition to the "OFF" position and open the driver's door to exit programming mode.
