Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Screwdriver set
    • Throttle body cleaner
    • Clean rags or paper towels
    • Safety goggles and gloves
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting.
    • Ensure the engine is cool to prevent burns.
2. Remove the Air Intake Hose
  • Use a screwdriver or socket to loosen the clamps securing the air intake hose to the throttle body.
  • Carefully disconnect the hose and set it aside.
3. Disconnect Electrical Connectors
  • Locate and carefully disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the throttle body.
  • Ensure no pins are bent or damaged during removal.
4. Remove the Throttle Body
  • Use a socket set to remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  • Gently pull the throttle body away from the manifold, taking care not to damage any gaskets.
5. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean rag or directly onto a soft brush.
  • Carefully scrub the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and the walls.
  • Wipe away any excess cleaner and carbon buildup until the surface is clean.
  • Avoid spraying cleaner directly into the throttle body without wiping, as it can cause flooding in the engine.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the throttle body to the intake manifold, ensuring to replace any gaskets if damaged.
  • Torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 89-106 in-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector(s) to the throttle body.
  • Reinstall the air intake hose and secure it with the clamps.
7. Final Check
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and let it idle to ensure proper function.
