Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Change Transmission Fluid
  • Fluid Check:

    1. Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
    2. Reinsert the dipstick and remove it again to check the fluid level.
    3. If fluid is low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid (Toyota ATF WS).
  • Fluid Change:

    1. Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
    2. Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set.
    3. Carefully lower the pan and allow the fluid to drain completely.
    4. Remove the old transmission filter and replace it with a new one.
    5. Clean the transmission pan and inspect for debris.
    6. Reinstall the pan with a new gasket and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically around 10-12 ft-lbs).
    7. Refill the transmission with the correct amount of ATF WS fluid.
3. Inspect and Replace Transmission Solenoids
  1. Remove the transmission access cover to access the solenoids.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the solenoids.
  3. Remove the bolts securing the solenoids and take them out.
  4. Install new solenoids and secure them with bolts, torquing to the manufacturer's specifications.
  5. Reconnect the electrical connectors.
4. Inspect and Adjust Throttle Position Sensor
  1. Locate the throttle position sensor on the throttle body.
  2. Unplug the electrical connector.
  3. Use a multimeter to test the sensor's output voltage while manually moving the throttle plate.
  4. If out of range, replace the throttle position sensor.
