Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Remove Fuel Tank
  • Safely lift and support the vehicle using jack stands.
  • Drain the fuel tank if necessary using a fuel siphon.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the fuel pump module.
  • Remove the securing bolts for the fuel tank and carefully lower it to the ground.
3. Inspect and Replace Fuel Sender Unit
  • Locate the fuel sender unit attached to the fuel pump module.
  • Remove the locking ring and carefully lift out the fuel sender.
  • Inspect the sender for corrosion or damage. If faulty, replace it with a new unit.
    • Tools Required: Torque wrench, socket set, fuel line disconnect tool
    • Safety Warnings: Ensure the area is well-ventilated to avoid inhalation of fuel vapors.
4. Reinstall Fuel Tank
  • Reinstall the fuel sender unit and secure it with the locking ring.
  • Lift the fuel tank back into position and secure it with the bolts.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors.
  • Refill the fuel tank with fuel.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Start the engine and check the fuel gauge operation.
  • Monitor for proper readings and ensure there are no leaks in the fuel system.
