Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Fuel pressure gauge
    • Screwdrivers
    • Pliers
    • Torque wrench
    • Safety glasses and gloves
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shocks.
    • Relieve fuel pressure before starting work to avoid fuel spray.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Remove the rear seat by pulling up on the bottom cushion to access the fuel pump access cover (if applicable).
  • If there is no access panel, lift the vehicle and remove the fuel tank by:
    • Disconnecting the fuel filler neck and any vent hoses.
    • Removing the fuel tank straps and lowering the tank carefully.
3. Remove the Old Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Remove the fuel lines by using a pair of pliers to squeeze the retaining clips and pull the lines off the pump.
  • Unbolt the fuel pump assembly using a socket set, taking care not to damage the surrounding components.
  • Lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Install the new fuel pump onto the assembly. Ensure all O-rings and seals are in place to prevent leaks.
  • Reattach the fuel lines securely to the new pump.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector ensuring it clicks into place.
  • If applicable, bolt the assembly back into the tank using the original torque specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • For a tank removal, reattach the fuel tank straps, reconnect the fuel filler neck, and any vent hoses.
  • Reinstall the rear seat or access cover.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the fuel pump area.
