Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Fluid Check
  • Tools Required: Transmission fluid dipstick, funnel, new transmission fluid.
  • Remove the transmission dipstick and wipe it clean.
  • Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out again to check the fluid level.
  • If fluid is low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid (typically Toyota ATF WS).
3. Replace Transmission Filter
  • Tools Required: Socket set, gasket scraper, new transmission filter, new gasket, torque wrench.
  • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set.
  • Carefully lower the pan and allow any fluid to drain into a container.
  • Remove the old filter from the transmission and install the new filter.
  • Clean the mating surface of the pan and transmission case with a gasket scraper.
  • Install the new gasket and reattach the transmission pan, tightening bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
4. Fluid Replacement
  • Tools Required: Funnel.
  • Pour the recommended type of new transmission fluid through the dipstick tube using a funnel until the proper level is reached.
  • Start the engine and cycle through the gears to circulate the fluid.
5. Test Drive
  • Reconnect the battery terminal.
  • Conduct a test drive to check for slipping and ensure smooth shifting.
