Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: jack, jack stands, lug wrench, caliper, torque wrench, brake cleaner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels slightly while the car is on the ground.
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using the lug wrench.
3. Remove Brake Calipers
  • Use a socket to remove the caliper bolts securing the caliper to the bracket.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a bungee cord or wire (do not let it dangle on the brake line).
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Measure the thickness of the pads; replace them if they are below the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Clean the caliper bracket and apply anti-squeal lubricant on the back of the new pads.
  • Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Check and Replace Brake Rotors (if necessary)
  • Inspect the brake rotor for any scoring or warping.
  • If replacement is needed, remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if present) and sliding it off the hub.
  • Install the new rotor, ensuring it is properly seated.
6. Reassemble Braking System
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new brake pads and rotor.
  • Tighten the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the jack.
  • Fully tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to the specified torque.
