Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Tools Required: Socket set, Lug wrench
    • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
    • Jack up the vehicle and securely support it with jack stands.
    • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Remove Brake Components
  • Tools Required: Socket set, Brake cleaner
    • Remove the brake caliper by loosening the caliper bolts.
    • Suspend the caliper using a bungee cord to avoid stress on the brake line.
    • Remove the brake rotor by taking off any retaining screws and pulling it off the hub.
4. Replace Wheel Bearing
  • Tools Required: Bearing puller, Hammer, Torque wrench
    • Use a bearing puller to extract the old wheel bearing from the hub assembly.
    • Clean the hub area thoroughly with brake cleaner.
    • Press in the new wheel bearing using the bearing press or hammer carefully.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench
    • Reinstall the brake rotor and secure it with retaining screws.
    • Reattach the brake caliper and tighten the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
    • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower Vehicle and Finalize
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench
    • Lower the vehicle to the ground.
    • Tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque value (usually around 76-80 ft-lbs for most Toyota vehicles).
    • Reconnect the battery.
