Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  2. Disconnect the ignition coil connector for cylinder 2.
  3. Remove the ignition coil bolt using a socket set and carefully pull out the coil.
  4. Use a spark plug socket to remove the spark plug from cylinder 2.
  5. Inspect the old spark plug for signs of fouling or damage.
  6. Install the new spark plug, tightening it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically 13-16 ft-lbs).
  7. Reinstall the ignition coil and reconnect the connector.
3. Replace Ignition Coil
  1. If the spark plug is in good condition, replace the ignition coil if it was found to be faulty during inspection.
  2. Remove the ignition coil from cylinder 2 as previously described.
  3. Install the new ignition coil and secure it with the bolt.
  4. Reconnect the ignition coil connector.
4. Inspect and Replace Fuel Injector (if necessary)
  1. If the fuel injector was suspected to be faulty, remove the fuel rail by disconnecting the fuel lines (ensure to relieve the fuel pressure first).
  2. Remove the old fuel injector from cylinder 2 using a fuel injector puller if necessary.
  3. Install the new fuel injector, ensuring it is properly seated and secured.
  4. Reinstall the fuel rail and reconnect fuel lines.
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reconnect the battery terminal.
  2. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  3. Monitor for any check engine light re-illumination or abnormal engine behavior.
