Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Oil catch pan, rags, UV dye (optional), UV light (optional), engine oil, socket set.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery (if working near electrical components).
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands for safety.
  • Place an oil catch pan under the engine to collect any oil that may leak during inspection.
3. Inspect and Clean
  • Clean the engine components with a degreaser to remove any existing oil residue for better visibility.
  • Inspect the oil filter and replace it if it shows signs of leakage.
  • Check the oil pan and valve cover gaskets for cracks or wear; replace if necessary.
4. Repair Leaks
  • Oil Filter Replacement:

    1. Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
    2. Lubricate the rubber gasket on the new filter with a bit of new oil.
    3. Install the new filter and tighten it according to specifications.
  • Gasket Replacement:

    1. Remove the components blocking access to the leaking gasket (if applicable).
    2. Remove the old gasket material using a scraper.
    3. Apply a new gasket or gasket maker as per manufacturer's recommendations.
    4. Reassemble the components and tighten bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
5. Refill Oil
  • If oil has leaked out, refill the engine oil to the proper level using the recommended oil type.
