Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shock.
2. Inspect and Replace Spark Plug and Ignition Coil
  1. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)

    • Unbolt and lift off the engine cover to access ignition components.
  2. Remove Spark Plug

    • Using a spark plug socket, remove the spark plug from cylinder 2.
    • Inspect the spark plug for wear or carbon buildup.
  3. Replace Spark Plug (if necessary)

    • Install a new spark plug (specifications: NGK ILZKR7B11 or equivalent).
    • Torque to manufacturer specifications (typically around 13 lb-ft).
  4. Inspect and Replace Ignition Coil

    • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil.
    • Remove the ignition coil by unbolting it.
    • Install a new ignition coil, ensuring a secure fit.
    • Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Check and Replace Fuel Injector (if necessary)
  1. Locate Fuel Injector

    • Identify the fuel rail and locate the injector for cylinder 2.
  2. Remove Fuel Injector Connector

    • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel injector.
  3. Remove Fuel Injector

    • Release any fuel pressure before removal by using a fuel pressure gauge.
    • Unbolt the fuel rail and carefully extract the injector from the rail.
  4. Install New Fuel Injector

    • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring of the new injector.
    • Insert and secure it back in the fuel rail.
    • Reconnect the electrical connector.
4. Compression Test
  1. Perform Compression Test

    • Remove spark plugs from all cylinders for easier cranking.
    • Insert a compression gauge into the cylinder 2 spark plug hole.
    • Crank the engine and note the compression reading; compare it to specifications.
  2. Address Compression Issues

    • If compression is low, additional diagnostics may be required (such as a leak-down test or valve inspection).
