Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which struts are being replaced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
  • Remove the wheels to access the struts.
3. Remove Old Struts
  • Front Struts:

    1. Remove the bolt securing the brake line to the strut.
    2. Detach the sway bar link from the strut.
    3. Unscrew the top strut mount nuts located under the hood.
    4. Remove the lower strut mounting bolts using a socket wrench.
    5. Carefully pull the strut assembly out of the wheel well.
  • Rear Struts:

    1. Remove any covering panels that obstruct access to the strut mounts.
    2. Unscrew the top strut mount nuts from inside the cargo area.
    3. Remove the lower strut bolts at the knuckle.
    4. Pull the strut assembly out from the rear of the vehicle.
4. Install New Struts
  • Insert the new strut assembly into the mounting location.
  • Secure the lower strut mounting bolts and torque to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reattach the top strut mount and torque to specification.
  • Reconnect the brake line and sway bar link.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
  • Torque the lug nuts to the appropriate specifications in a star pattern.
6. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Test the new struts by performing a bounce test.
  • Take the vehicle for a short test drive to ensure proper handling and ride quality.
