my Toyota RAV4 headlights are flickering what's wrong

Solution

1. Preparation

• Gather tools and parts.
• Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.

2. Inspect and Replace Headlight Bulbs

• Remove the headlight assembly by unfastening screws or clips.
• Disconnect the headlight bulb connector.
• Remove the old bulb by twisting it counterclockwise.
• Install the new bulb by inserting it and twisting clockwise.
• Reconnect the bulb connector and reassemble the headlight assembly.

3. Check and Repair Wiring Harness

• Visually inspect the wiring harness for any frayed wires or corrosion.
• Use a multimeter to test for continuity in the wiring.
• Repair or replace any damaged wiring using solder and heat shrink tubing as necessary.

4. Battery and Alternator Check

• Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage. If below 12.6V, charge or replace the battery.
• Start the vehicle and measure the alternator output. If it is below 13.8V, consider replacing the alternator.

5. Inspect and Replace Headlight Relay

• Locate the headlight relay in the fuse box.
• Remove the relay and test it using a multimeter for continuity.
