Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • OBD-II scanner
    • Socket set
    • Screwdriver set
    • Torque wrench
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems.
    • Allow the engine to cool before performing any inspections.
2. Replace the Starter Motor (if faulty)
  1. Disconnect Battery
    • Remove the negative terminal from the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  2. Remove Engine Covers
    • Use a socket set to unbolt and remove any plastic engine covers obstructing access to the starter.
  3. Disconnect Wiring from Starter
    • Carefully unplug the electrical connectors from the starter motor.
  4. Unbolt Starter Motor
    • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing the starter motor to the engine block.
  5. Remove Old Starter
    • Gently twist and pull the starter motor out of its housing.
  6. Install New Starter
    • Position the new starter in place and secure it with bolts, tightening to manufacturer specifications (typically around 15-25 ft-lbs).
  7. Reconnect Wiring
    • Plug the electrical connectors back onto the new starter.
  8. Reinstall Engine Covers
    • Reattach any covers that were removed earlier.
3. Replace Serpentine Belt (if worn)
  1. Locate Tensioner
    • Identify the serpentine belt tensioner and use a wrench to relieve tension.
  2. Remove Old Belt
    • Slide the belt off the pulleys, taking note of its routing for reinstallation.
  3. Install New Belt
    • Route the new belt according to the diagram typically found on the engine bay.
  4. Reapply Tension
    • Use the tensioner to ensure the belt is tight and properly seated on all pulleys.
