Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and wear safety gear.
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, brake cleaner, torque wrench, caliper tool.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen lug nuts slightly with a lug wrench.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and securely place it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel to access brake components.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Calipers: Check for proper movement and ensure the caliper slides smoothly.
  • Remove Brake Pads: Unbolt the caliper using a socket set and carefully slide it off the rotor. Remove the old brake pads.
  • Install New Pads: Clean the caliper bracket and apply brake grease to the back of the new pads. Install new pads into the caliper bracket.
4. Inspect and Replace Rotors (if necessary)
  • Check Rotor Condition: If rotors show signs of wear or warping, remove them by unbolting from the hub.
  • Replace Rotors: Install new rotors and ensure they are properly seated. Torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  • Torque caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
6. Lower Vehicle and Test
  • Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle.
  • Tighten lug nuts to the specified torque value.
  • Test the brakes by pumping the pedal several times before driving.
