Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials for repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
2. Replace Faulty Brake Pedal Switch
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, socket set.
  • Remove the cover under the dashboard to access the brake pedal switch.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the brake pedal switch.
  • Remove the switch by unbolting it from its mount.
  • Install the new brake pedal switch by reversing the removal steps and reconnecting the wiring harness.
3. Repair or Replace Throttle Position Sensor (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, socket set.
  • Locate the throttle position sensor (usually near the throttle body).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the TPS.
  • Use a multimeter to test the sensor's resistance according to the specifications in the service manual.
  • If faulty, remove the TPS by unbolting it and install the new sensor, making sure to torque it to factory specifications.
4. Inspect and Replace Cruise Control Switch (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, trim removal tools.
  • Remove the steering wheel cover to access the cruise control switch.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from the cruise control switch.
  • Replace the switch with a new one and reassemble the steering wheel cover.
