Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Tools Required:
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Socket set
    • Oil catch pan
    • Funnel
    • Rags or shop towels
  • Parts Required:
    • New oil filter
    • New engine oil (consult owner’s manual for specifications)
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the procedure.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the oil to completely drain.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications.
3. Remove Old Oil Filter
  • Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter by turning it counter-clockwise.
  • Ensure that the rubber o-ring from the old filter comes off with the filter. If it remains on the engine, remove it to prevent leaks.
4. Install New Oil Filter
  • Apply a thin film of new engine oil to the rubber gasket on the new oil filter.
  • Install the new oil filter by hand, turning it clockwise until snug. Do not over-tighten; refer to the manufacturer’s specifications.
5. Add New Engine Oil
  • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the oil filler neck.
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
