Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety.
2. Check and Refill Power Steering Fluid
  • Locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level.
  • If low, add the recommended type of power steering fluid until it reaches the proper level. Use Toyota Genuine ATF or equivalent.
3. Inspect and Replace Power Steering Pump (if necessary)
  • Remove the Belt:
    • Loosen the tensioner pulley and remove the serpentine belt from the power steering pump.
  • Disconnect Hoses:
    • Place a drain pan under the power steering pump.
    • Disconnect the high and low-pressure hoses using a wrench.
  • Remove the Pump:
    • Unbolt the power steering pump from its mounting bracket using a socket set.
  • Install New Pump:
    • Position the new power steering pump in place and secure it with bolts to the mounting bracket.
    • Reconnect the high and low-pressure hoses, ensuring they are tight and leak-free.
4. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • With the vehicle running, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to remove air from the system.
  • Check the fluid level again and add fluid as necessary.
5. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery securely.
