Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical hazards.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels using a socket set.
3. Remove the Old Ball Joints
  • Locate the ball joint on the control arm.
  • Remove the cotter pin (if applicable) and castle nut using a wrench.
  • Use a ball joint separator tool to disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle.
  • Remove the ball joint from the control arm, taking care not to damage surrounding components.
4. Install New Ball Joints
  • Insert the new ball joint into the control arm.
  • Secure it with the appropriate nut and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications (refer to the service manual for specific torque values).
  • Reattach the ball joint to the steering knuckle and secure it with a new cotter pin and castle nut.
5. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the front wheels and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and remove the jack stands.
  • Reconnect the battery.
