Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Screwdriver set
    • Pliers
    • Fuel line disconnect tool
    • Torque wrench
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical sparks.
2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure
  • Locate the fuel pump relay in the fuse box.
  • Start the engine and remove the fuel pump relay, allowing the engine to stall.
  • Turn off the ignition and wait for 10 minutes to relieve pressure in the fuel lines.
3. Remove the Old Fuel Filter
  • Locate the fuel filter, usually found along the fuel line on the chassis.
  • Use the fuel line disconnect tool to carefully disconnect the fuel lines from the filter. Be prepared for some fuel spillage; use rags to soak it up.
  • Remove the mounting bracket bolts or clips securing the filter to the chassis.
  • Carefully remove the old fuel filter from its position.
4. Install the New Fuel Filter
  • Install the new fuel filter in the same orientation as the old filter (indicated by the flow direction arrow).
  • Reattach the mounting bracket and secure it with bolts or clips.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines to the new filter, ensuring they are properly seated and secure.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position (do not start) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes while checking for leaks around the new filter and connections.
